Trout Stream:

The Hyères (10mins drive)

The Hyères rises between the towns of Callac and Chapelle Neuve. After a journey of 25 km, it enters the Finistère downstream Carhaix.

There is easy river access from the D 787 from Callac to Carhaix. The River Hyères is perfect for the fly fishing. Trout are good size and density. The months of May and June are the best months for fly fishing and it is not uncommon to reach more than twenty fish on an afternoon.

The Hyères is a destination for lovers of trout. Detailed mapping of the river can be obtained from the Fishing tackle shop in Callac. The minimum size for Trout to be taken is 23cm, if Pike are landed they are to be removed from the water regardless of size

Callac Lake is a stunning water of just under 20 acres situated just outside the town of Callac so easy access for towns facilities. There is a wide walkway around the lake so is suitable for wheelchair users and family fishing. As it is a 1st Category and stocked regularly with Trout it is mainly fished by the French anglers for the Trout ( to over 2 Kg ) there are just a few Carp anglers that fish it which is a surprise when there has been some stunning Commons, Mirrors and Grass Carp caught well in excess of 20Kg. There are also some very large Tench, Pike, Perch and Roach. Toilets and fresh tap water at lakeside.

Huelgoat Lake (20mins drive)

The lake at Huelgoat is a pretty and peaceful environment in quaint village surroundings. A manmade lake built to provide water for the nearby silver and lead mines, it flows into the River Argent and into the streams and pools of the Forêt d'Huelgoat. Canals lead off to the disused mines but today the lake is a great place to enjoy some boating and fishing. Carp, pike, tench, perch and roach can all be found here and herons, ducks and swans also call  the lake home. Hire a fishing boat, electric speed boat, or take a trip out in a pedallo.

Etange Neuf St Connan (45mins Drive)

Welcome To Brittany Farm Holidays

Our tiny farm is beautifully situated in the peaceful hamlet of Trevenec close to Carnoët and La Vallée des Saints in Central Brittany. It has stunning views over the surrounding countryside and the Foret Dominiale de Freau. We have small flocks of Shetland and Lande de Bretagne Sheep which lamb in spring and early summer. The sheep provide a variety of natural coloured fleece for spinning into yarn. Our goats are pets and are very friendly; we also have free range hens which provide fresh "tasty" eggs for us and our guests.
